The Spanish Air Force and ITP unveil a monument to the Mirage F-1 at Ajalvir facilities

An unveiling ceremony was held this morning at the ITP facility in Ajalvir, Madrid, for the monument to the Mirage F-1 combat aircraft, given to the company by the Spanish Air Force.

The Mirage F-1 played a key role in defending Spanish air space for 35 years, but was withdrawn from service in 2013 to be replaced by the Eurofighter. Since the entry into service of the Mirage F-1, the Ajalvir factory has carried out service support activities on the Atar 09K50 engines that powered the fleet of aircraft of the Spanish Air Force, with over 600 engines repaired.

Ignacio Mataix, the CEO of ITP, thanked General Garcia Arnaiz for providing the transfer aircraft for the monument, which commemorates the historic relationship enjoyed between the Spanish Air Force and ITP.
