19 students from the Dual Specialized Professional Training join ITP Aero

ITP Aero has started the second year of its Dual Specialized Professional Training programme with 19 student hires. 15 of them are joining the company's different production areas in its Zamudio facilities, and four more will be working in the CFAA (Advanced Aeronautical Manufacturing Center), where ITP Aero leads the Business Group made up by 58 partners.

For the next three years, the students will be trained in one of the four specialized professional training programmes for which ITP Aero has been certified: advanced manufacturing, product life cycle, welding process and non-destructive tests. In order to develop and coordinate the programmes' content, ITP Aero has been supported by the Vice-Ministry of Professional Training of the Basque Government and the Basque Institute of Professional Training.

ITP Aero is participating for the second time in this initiative framed within a collaboration agreement with the Basque Government. The main objective of this public-private project is to adjust the training received by students to the technological job requirements and highly competitive challenges of the industrial sector.

Last year 9 students joined the Zamudio production areas and 10 the castings facilities located in Barakaldo. Currently, all last year's incorporations are still following their training programmme.

Arantza Hallet, Head of Human Resources of ITP Aero: "38 students from Dual Specialized Professional Training have joined us in the last two years, it is a big opportunity for ITP Aero that offers a sustainable future investment in advanced manufacturing and high technology training. In addition, it is a very good opportunity for the students to have a closer look at a company's daily work where they can apply their knowledge."

Specialized training

The students incorporated today have finished their first year of studies and come from five Professional Training Centers: Politeknika Txorierri, Elorrieta-Erreka Mari, Somorrostro, Nicolas Larburu and Salesianos Deusto. Their training programme will go on for two more years, until the students complete their specialization.

During the onboarding phase, the students will receive complementary training in essential topics like risk prevention, management and quality systems, as well as an introduction to different aspects of ITP Aero's business. During the second year, they will participate in an induction programme about lean manufacturing, production processes and manufacturing technologies. After this second phase, the students will start their specialization phase, which will be extended for the rest of the second year and the whole of the third year, in which they will specialize in one specific area.

Besides this, students will also be trained in other abilities such as problem resolution, attitude towards change, decision making and emotional intelligence.
