June 9, 2022ITP Aero, first Spanish aeronautical manufacturer to be certified by AENOR in Compliance
After a rigorous auditing process, AENOR has recognised ITP Aero for its implementation of a criminal compliance management system, in accordance with Spanish standard UNE 19601, and of an anti-bribery management system, in accordance with international standard ISO 37001.
These certificates recognise ITP Aero’s efforts to continually strengthen its culture of ethics and compliance and its eagerness to continuously improve, incorporating the best national and international practices in compliance, corporate governance, social responsibility and business ethics.
Carlos Alzola, CEO of ITP Aero, received both certifications from Rafael García Meiro, CEO of AENOR. During the presentation ceremony, Carlos Alzola stressed that: “Having a robust compliance management system is one of the pillars of ITP Aero’s governance model, an excellent tool for ensuring continuous improvement, reinforcing the culture of ethics and compliance at ITP Aero, and generating long-term value, both for the company and for our stakeholders.”
For his part, Rafael García Meiro commented: “Being sustainable implies good practice in environmental, social and governance matters. Achievements such as the Aenor certificates drives confidence in ITP’s stakeholders, as the company demonstrates its long-term commitment to meeting the high standards expected in these areas.”
ITP Aero is the first aeronautical manufacturer in Spain to obtain AENOR’s criminal and anti-bribery compliance certificates, accrediting that its Criminal Risk Prevention Model complies with the requirements of the Standard. These certifications are the result of a rigorous audit carried out by AENOR, in which all the company’s corporate areas and business units participated (led by the Ethics and Compliance Department).
The audit team highlighted the work carried out by the Ethics and Compliance team in correctly implementing the criminal and anti-bribery compliance system. In addition, the deployment of LEAs (Local Ethics Advisors) was identified as a key component in the close management of the compliance system.
Culture of integrity
As part of its new Strategic Plan, last year ITP Aero reviewed and strengthened its Corporate Culture, promoting a High Performance Culture and emphasising four main values: Act with Integrity, Innovate for the Future, Move towards Excellence and Care for People. Over the past year, ITP Aero has made numerous advances in the design and dissemination of a new corporate culture, with maximum regulatory compliance and zero tolerance for irregularities and corruption.
In addition to the certification, over the last few years ITP Aero has strengthened its corporate governance, regulatory compliance and adoption of good practices. It has strengthened its ethical line – a tool that allows employees, customers or suppliers to resolve their concerns about ethical issues and to make a complaint, if necessary. In addition, the company has developed a network of Local Ethics Advisors (LEAs) at all its sites worldwide. The LEAs are employees who voluntarily help to promote an ethical culture at ITP Aero, supporting ethical queries that may arise in the day-to-day running of its various sites around the world.
