ITP Aero applies decades of combustor expertise in wide body, business aviation and defence engines to now support current-generation narrowbody engines.
ITP Aero to deliver its full volume of combustors in 2026, supporting the continued growth of the GTF engine programme.
ITP Aero has successfully delivered its first combustor for the Pratt & Whitney PW1500G and PW1900G engines, marking a significant milestone in the company’s contribution to one of the most advanced commercial engine programmes currently in operation. The delivery follows Pratt & Whitney’s announcement in June that ITP Aero would become the 21st shop in the GTF MRO network. Pratt & Whitney is an RTX business.
This delivery highlights ITP Aero’s proven expertise in combustor technology, now being applied to the GTF engines that power the Airbus A220 and Embraer E2 aircraft, respectively. With decades of experience in combustor technology across widebody, business aviation and defence platforms, ITP Aero is now extending its capabilities to support the current generation of narrowbody engines.
As a risk and revenue sharing partner in Pratt & Whitney’s GTF programme, ITP Aero plays a strategic role in supporting the long-term success of this cutting-edge engine family. The combustor is manufactured at ITP Aero’s UK facility in Hucknall, which has undergone substantial development to meet the rigorous quality and performance standards set by Pratt & Whitney. This achievement reflects the strength of ITP Aero’s engineering and operational capabilities in the UK, as well as the company’s broader industrial footprint and ability to deliver complex components for high-performance propulsion systems.
ITP Aero will deliver its full volume of combustors in 2026, supporting the continued growth and success of the GTF programme.
Mikel Lantero, Executive Vice President, Civil Business, ITP Aero, commented: “We are proud to be supporting the GTF programme and to have reached this important milestone. Our teams across our global network have demonstrated exceptional engineering capability and commitment to excellence. As a partner on the GTF programme, we are dedicated to finding new ways to support its continued expansion and success by Flying Forward, Together.”
ITP Aero is one of the few companies worldwide with the capability to manufacture advanced combustors for both commercial and defence aerospace platforms. The company is also actively engaged in R&T initiatives, in the UK, Spain and at the EU level, focused on next-generation combustor technologies to support sustainable aviation.
