EcoVadis awards ITP Aero Platinum Medal for the second consecutive year
November 24, 2025ITP Aero recognised with the Cinco Días Business Innovation Award for its additive manufacturing Technology
ITP Aero has been recognised for its strong commitment to the development of proprietary additive manufacturing technology, achieving tangible results that contribute to reducing aviation’s environmental impact.
At the 18th edition of the Cinco Días Awards for Business Innovation, ITP Aero received the award for the Most Innovative Business Project in the Technological Field for its additive manufacturing (3D printing) technology applied to aircraft engines. The award, presented by Ricardo de Querol, Director of Cinco Días and Deputy Editor of Economy at EL PAÍS, positions ITP Aero as a technological benchmark in the sector. This year’s edition also recognised projects from LaLiga, Ecoembes, Macami Biotech and Sacyr. The award was collected on behalf of the company by María Cañas, Senior Manager Additive Manufacturing, at the CaixaForum Madrid Auditorium.
ITP Aero has become the world’s first aircraft engine manufacturer to be certified by EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) in additive manufacturing for a structural component, following more than a decade of developing its own technology. The certification applies to the structural vanes of the rear section of the TP400 engine and validates the robustness, reliability and sustainability of the company’s 3D-printing processes.
ITP Aero’s additive manufacturing technology enables around a 25% reduction in energy consumption and supports designs that can reduce component weight or noise output by up to 50%. In the case of the TP400 vanes, ITP Aero has moved from assembling up to four forged and welded parts to producing a single optimised component, eliminating welds and achieving a weight reduction of up to 10%.
The Cinco Días jury highlighted ITP Aero’s long-term commitment to in-house innovation, describing the company’s additive manufacturing capabilities as “a revolutionary idea delivering tangible results, aligned with the company’s objectives and addressing one of aviation’s main challenges: its global environmental impact”, further emphasising “the added value of developing proprietary technology”.
Erlantz Cristóbal, Chief Technology Officer at ITP Aero, said:
“This recognition reflects more than a decade of work developing proprietary additive manufacturing technology. At ITP Aero, we believe this innovation is essential for the future of aviation, enabling lighter, more efficient and more sustainable components, while opening the door to designs that were previously impossible. Our continued commitment to innovation positions us to lead the development of technologies that will support a more sustainable aerospace industry.”
