The future of aviation.

New engine architectures for more sustainable aviation

To tackle the important challenges faced by the aviation industry, ITP Aero is working on a strategy that allows us to successfully address the needs of the present and the future.

In the short term, the future lies in... new architectures for sustainable engines and fuels

At ITP Aero, we are working on developing new engine architectures to reduce the environmental impact of air transport, including gear systems for the optimal functioning of all engine components and allowing the inclusion of sustainable fuels that can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 40%. ITP Aero collaborates in the development of the intermediate pressure turbine and the rear structure of the latest-generation UltraFan® engine by Rolls-Royce, which has a geared architecture to ensure that the various components of the engine operate at their optimum speed. The engine will offer a 25% improvement in fuel consumption and emissions compared to the first generation of Trent engines.

In the medium term, the future is... hybrid-electric and hydrogen-based propulsion

To minimise the impact of transport systems, we are investing in technology that lays the foundation for hybrid and hydrogen propulsion.
